Bringing the dilapidated RV back to home. July 2014

We purchased our 2000 Sportsman 2505 on July 13th 2014 with the intentions of repairing it and returning it to the road.  It’s a 25′ quad bunkhouse with a hard slide and when we bought the trailer it had a fair amount of water damage.  As we went through the process of repairing and upgrading we used this blog to document the process.

When making this purchase we sort of knew what we were getting into, but uncovered many unexpected surprises.  It seemed as though every time we fixed one issue we unearthed a new problem.  In the end we replaced the entire roof, some of the roof trusses, the walls and floor at the rear 10′ of the trailer.  The biggest surprise to me was that the siding was the only thing holding the rear of the trailer together, so when I removed the siding on the rear the slide collapsed.

After all the work and headaches it was all worth it.  We had a trailer that was ready for our family to enjoy and we accomplished a huge goal of our together.  We’re discussed purchasing an RV for years and years without taking action, but the wait is now over.  It’s time to make memories!
